Roscoe Owen "R. O. " Fleming, Jr. (1919-2010) - Class Of 1938

FLEMING, Roscoe Owen, age 91, passed away May 10, 2010. at his home in Mountain Brook.  Mr. Fleming was pre­ceded in death by his par­ents, Georgia Virginia Baker and Roscoe Owen “Bon” Fleming, and his brothers, Norwood J. Fleming (Clay) and Horace S. Fleming (Mil­ler). Mr. Fleming retired from the Social Security Administration after 40 years of service. He was a member of Trinity Unit­ed Methodist Church and served as president of his Sun­day School class. He was an avid reader and collector of books on history.  Survived by his wife of 35years, Jane Lawson Fleming, both took great pleasure in being involved with their ex­tended family. He is also sur­vived by two nephews, Dr. Norwood J. Fleming (Lucy) and Horace S. Fleming (R­ebecca), and three nieces, Virginia F. Anthony (Richard), Karen R. Drinnon, and Rebec­ca J. Pickens (David); eight great-nephews and nieces; and eight great-great-nephews and nieces, includ­ing Roscoe Bare, Mr. Flem­ing's namesake. The funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday,May 14, 2010 at Trinity United Methodist Church, with Dr. An­drew Wolfe officiating. A pri­vate family burial will be held that afternoon in Montgom­ery, Alabama. Memorials may be made to Trinity Unit­ed Methodist Church, 1400 Oxmoor Road, Homewood,AL 35209.
