George Cullen "Bo" Dean, Jr. (1917-2008) - Class Of 1936

DEAN, George Cullen ''Bo'' Jr., 90, of Montgomery died Monday, June 16, 2008. Fu­neral services will be held Fri­day, June 20, 2008, at 1 p.m. at Eastern Hills Baptist Church with Dr. Rick Marshall and Rev. Larry Armstrong officiat­ing. Burial will follow in Green­wood Cemetery. Visitation will be at Leak-Memory Cha­pel on Thursday, June 19, 2008, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.Mr. Dean was preceded in death by his parents, G. C. and Eunice Dean; two sisters, Adelaide Wiley and Mary Messer and one brother, Maxwell Dean. He is survived by his wife, Barbara S. Dean; three daughters, Mary (Ben) McDavid, Montgomery; Ann (Tony) Rogers, Auburn and Cyndi (Norman) Arnold,Montgomery; two sons, Steve Moody (Holly), Phoenix, AZ,and James Moody (Kathy), Montgomery; 12 grandchil­dren and 12 great-grandchil­dren.  Mr. Dean worked as an ac­countant for the State of Ala­bama for 44 years, and served as State Comptroller the last three years before his retirement on March 31, 1981.  He is a former President of the Montgomery Lions Club and was named Lion of the Year in 1989. He was a founder and one of the original board members of the Alabama State Employees Credit Union. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Cullen McDavid, Dean Rog­ers, Mike Rogers, Troy Arnold, Jason Gardner, Brandon Queen, Todd Atkinson, and nephew, David Little.  Hon­orary pallbearers will be Hardy Kirk, Orin Goocher,J ohn Oliver and members of the Hurley Sunday School Class at Eastern Hills Baptist Church. Flowers will be ac­cepted or donations may be made to Eastern Hills Baptist Church Building Fund or Sav-A-Life. The family would like to extend special thanks to Ala­Care Hospice and to devoted care givers, Eliza Redmon, Alma Arrington and Eddie Mae Davis.  Leak-Memory Chapel Directing
