James T. Durden (1919-2008) - Class Of 1935

DURDEN, James T., 88, a resident of Montgomery, AL, passed away on Satur­day, February 2, 2008. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 5, 2008 at 11:00 AM at Leak-Memory Chapel with Rev. Jim Walter officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visita­tion will be on Monday, Feb­ruary 4, 2008 from 5:00 PM - 7:00 PM at Leak-Memory Cha­pel. Mr. Durden was loved and admired by many for his great sense of humor and in­tellect. He was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Rosalie Eiring Durden. He is survived by sons, Hilmar Fred­erick (Suzette) Durden, John Douglas (Flora) Durden, Rob­ert Walter Durden; grand­daughters, Kathryn (Mac) Durden Brock, Rachel Rosalie Durden; and loving family member Linda Ann White. Mr.Durden graduated from Au­burn University with honors. He served his country in the U.S. Navy in World War II and retired as a Captain from the Naval Reserve. He also retired after 45 years of service with Algernon Blair. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial do­nations can be made to the Montgomery Humane Socie­ty.The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice of Montgomery for the care and compassion they have shown during Mr. Durden's illness.
