Eugene Heilpern, Jr. (1916-2011) - Class Of 1932

Eugene Heilpern, Jr., a resident of Montgomery , Alabama died on the third of December 2011. He was born in Montgomery on January 29, 1916. He attended The University of Alabama two years and spent two years at The Ohio State University to finish his college education. While at OSU he qualified for the 1936 Olympic Swimming team. He served in the U.S. Air force in the China-Burma-India Theater of Operations, flying between India and China during World War II. He attained the rank of Captain. He served as President of the Montgomery Real Estate Board, President of the Alabama Real Estate Association, Vice President of the National Association of the Real Estate Board. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Montgomery Boys Club for 35 years-received the Keystone Award twice; a member of the Montgomery T.B. Sanitarium Board; member of the Board of Directors of the Tukabatchee Council of the Boy Scouts for 40 years; served as it's president for five years, received the Silver Beaver Award. He was president of the Investor's Federal Savings and Loan Association; president of The Heilpern Agency, Inc.; elected to the Montgomery Real Estate Board Hall of Fame. Mr. Heilpern has been a member of the Montgomery Rotary Club since 1941, and served as president of the Montgomery Rotary Club. He was an avid member of the Quiet Birdmen. He was married to Elise Heilpern in 1937. He was predeceased by Elise and leaves a daughter, Dae Miller, and three grandsons, Christopher, Andy, and Tom Taccetta, and two great grandchildren, Samantha and Ryan Taccetta. Visitation will be at Southern Memorial Funeral Home from one to two PM. A memorial service will be held at two PM Tuesday the sixth of December.
