Luther Christman Smilie died April 7, 2016 at home with his family at his bedside after a courageous battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his parents Jeanette Lifsey Smilie and Clifton Parker Smilie, Jr. He is survived by his loving

wife Tade Lampley Smilie, his children Andrew Christman Smilie (Kristine) and Tade Merrill Howard (Mike), three grandchildren Tade Sims Howard, Henry Christman Howard, Paige Lampley Smilie, his sister, Peggy Gilbert (Greg), and his brother Clifton Parker Smilie, III, (Melissa).

A memorial service will be on Monday, April 11 at St. John's Episcopal Church, Montgomery. Visitation will be in the parish house at 10:00 AM , followed by the memorial service at 11:00 AM with the Reverend Robert C. Wisnewski officiating.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of Montgomery, Saint John's Episcopal Church, or the charity of one's choice.
