FLORENCE — Cavell McMillan Sharitt, 101, a native of Covington, Kentucky and former resident of Montgomery and Mobile, Alabama, died Saturday, Dec. 3, 2016, at Mitchell-Hollingsworth.

Mrs. Sharitt was retired from the state health department in Mobile and had made her home in Florence since that time.

Mrs. Sharitt is survived by five sons, Barnes Sharitt Jr. (Phyllis), John Sharitt, Mac Sharitt (Betty), Hayward Sharitt (Anita), and Don Sharitt (Cindy); 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

A graveside service was held Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2016, at Montgomery Memorial Cemetery with Chris Underwood officiating. Elkins Funeral Home assisted the family.

A special thanks to the Florence Fire Department for their responses to Cavell’s frequent pulling of the fire alarms. She never got tired of seeing a man in uniform.
