Thomas "Tommy" Forsythe Hurst, Jr. (1951-2011) - Class Of 1969

Thomas F. Hurst, Jr. of Birmingham passed away on September 10, 2011 at the age of 60. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas F. Hurst, Sr. and his step father, Doyle B. Stygler.

Tommy is survived by:
His mother Eloise T. Stygler;
His sister Alexis H. Cooper and her husband Robert;
His sister Tammy Turner and her husband Bobby;
His nieces Beth Cooper and Taylor Cooper;
His niece Trina Federico and her husband Brad;
His nephew Tommy Turner and his wife Maria;
His aunt Helon Thorne;
His uncle Eric Thorne and his wife Pat;
and several special cousins.

Tommy graduated in 1969 from Sidney Lanier High School and attended the University of Alabama. An outstanding football player at Sidney Lanier, Tommy was a three year letterman and a starter for the Fighting Poets when they won three State Championships in 1966, 1967, and 1968.

As a talented carpenter and wood worker Tommy operated his own furniture repair, restoration and refinishing business in Tampa, Florida.

Graveside services were held on Thursday, September 15, 2011 at 10:00 am at Greenwood Cemetery, Montgomery, AL.
